Fun Beginning Floral Class at Bella Florals Farm

We had a blast at the first Bella Florals floral class. We started the day out in my kitchen drinking spa water and coffee and getting to know each other. Then Jolene (pictured above), Marge, and I went to my now cleaned out garage and got to work. I discussed the care and conditioning of flowers, went over the agenda for the day, and discussed the elements and principles of floral design. Then we got to work!

First arrangement was a centerpiece made with floral foam. It was round and symmetrical. The ladies did really well. Even through we did the same arrangement, each person had their own style.

We went with a monochromatic color theme and used mostly lavenders and purples with some lilac thrown in. Marge (pictured left) was new at arranging flowers but did an exceptional job. She has great spacial awareness and is an artist in her own right. She does glass art. Thankfully, she let me use her as a student in my first class. Thankfully, she is family and didn't mind.

Next we had a fabulous lunch of taco salad and fruit with cupcakes for dessert. We even shared a glass of wine.

After lunch I taught them how to create a spiral hand tied bouquet. We used mums, roses, liatris, alstroemeria, stock, and 3 different greens. They once they figured out how to add the flowers and do the quarter turn, it went really fast. After we added ribbon and took pictures, we were sad to see them leave. It was really wonderful. I think Jolene really liked the property and how peaceful it is.

Next class is Saturday, July 13th from 10:00am to 3:00pm You can sign up here. Space is limited. Hope to see you here at the farm.
